Prospect Watch: The Chihuahuas used a 13-hit attack, including four triples, to beat the Express handily in Round Rock. … Center fielder Bryce Johnson did his best Luis Arraez impersonation, tallying four hits, including a triple. Johnson also stole his 12th bag of the year. The 28-year-old has been a solid addition to the organization after spending the first seven years of his professional career in the Giants organization. Johnson played in 41 games for the Giants over the last two seasons. This season, he is hitting .280/.417/.427 in 44 games. … Cal Mitchell had three more hits to complete his hot May. All of Mitchell’s hits were singles, and he also added an RBI. The 25-year-old with 71 games of big league experience posted an outstanding .290/.405/.565 slash-line in 62 at-bats for the month. … Eguy Rosario had a double and triple in the game, both coming against left-handed pitching. He is now slugging .800 in 25 at-bats against southpaws for El Paso. … Daniel Camarena jumped into the El Paso rotation and pitched well, earning his first win of the year. Camarena worked five innings and allowed a run on two hits. He walked one and struck out four. The former Cathedral Catholic star has generally struggled in his second stint in El Paso. He’s allowed 64 baserunners in 32 innings while posting a 8.72 ERA. … Nick Hernandez pitched two shutout innings, allowing a pair of hits. He struck out three as he put the bow on an incredible May. Hernandez appeared in 11 games and allowed just one run all month, pitching to a 0.60 ERA. In 15 innings, he walked four and struck out 21. Hernandez appeared in two games for the Padres last season. The organization re-signed him in the off-season. 

Frisco RoughRiders 4, Missions 1

Prospect Watch: The Missions managed just six hits as they lost their sixth game in a row. San Antonio has scored only 13 runs during the six-game skid. … First baseman Robbie Tenerowicz had a pair of hits, including a double. The 29-year-old former Mariners farmhand signed with the organization shortly after Nathan Martorella and Jakob Marsee were traded to the Marlins. The former Cal Bear had a .914 OPS in the Texas League for Arkansas last season. Thus far, with the Missions, he has had a .646 OPS in his fifth year of Double-A experience. … Lefty Austin Krob took the loss but pitched relatively well. He completed five innings, allowing three runs on four hits. He walked two and struck out four. Krob generated six groundouts, a skill he is quite adept at. Krob’s 52.9% groundball percentage is fourth-best in the Texas League (minimum 30 innings). The 24-year-old has a 4.17 ERA this season in nine games (eight starts). … Lefty Jason Blanchard pitched two shutout innings of relief, allowing two hits. He also notched a strikeout. The 26-year-old has been a revelation this year after he struggled with the Missions last season. Friday’s outing lowered his ERA to 1.48 in 15 outings. 

TinCaps 4, Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 3 (10 innings)

Prospect Watch: The TinCaps halted a four-game losing streak by rallying to defeat Wisconsin on the road. … Catcher Anthony Vilar reached base four times with two singles and a pair of walks. The 25-year-old was an on-base machine for the TinCaps in May. The University of Miami product reached base via a hit or a walk in 19 out of 20 games in the month, hitting .296/.390/.465 with two homers, 18 RBI, and four doubles. He also provided the club with versatility in the field, logging time at second and first base for the first time in his career. … Jay Beshears had a pair of hits, including a double. The Duke product has continued to hit well since joining the TinCaps after being one of the Cal League’s best hitters to start the year. In 14 games with the TinCaps, Beshears is hitting .300/.390/.420. … After Henry Baez threw the first three innings, the TinCaps bullpen pitched seven innings and allowed just one run on three hits. Ruben Galindo earned the win, pitching three innings. He allowed a run on three hits, notching two strikeouts. The 23-year-old got his first taste of Fort Wayne last season and struggled badly, pitching to a 9.39 ERA in nine games. He’s been an important cog in the TinCaps’ bullpen this year. In 13 outings, Galindo has a 3.09 ERA. The club also received scoreless outings from Will Geerdes, Tyler Morgan, and Manuel Castro, who notched his fourth save of the year. 

Storm 8, Rancho Cucamonga Quakes 7 (11 innings)

Prospect Watch: The good times keep rolling in Lake Elsinore. The Storm won their fourth straight over Rancho Cucamonga and took over sole possession of first place with an extra-innings walk-off. The Storm have already won the series but will look to sweep the Quakes this weekend. … The biggest star of the series for Lake Elsinore is Chase Valentine, a one-man wrecking crew. The usually light-hitting infielder has four consecutive multi-hit games, including a pair of singles in the Storm victory. Valentine is 9-for-15 with a double and a homer during his streak. … Center fielder Nick Vogt came off the injured list and had a pair of singles, including the walk-off hit. The former UC Santa Barbara outfielder struggled in April but had looked better in May before landing on the injured list for two weeks. Overall, he is hitting .232/.328/.313 this season. … Ryan Wilson connected on his first homer of the year, his only hit Friday night. The former Davidson outfielder has drawn 28 walks in 182 plate appearances but has not shown much pop. His homer was just his sixth extra-base hit of the season. Wilson is hitting .210/.368/.273. … After Eric Yost struggled, Will Varmette helped stabilize things in the middle innings. The Alabama native pitched three shutout innings, allowing just three hits and one walk, striking out three. Varmette has allowed only one run over his last 10 innings. Relying on a big fastball and slider, he’s walked six and struck out 13 during that span. 

The ACL Padres had the night off.
